Hi Alois,

I have trouble returning my opponent's serve, which is long, cross-court, heavy on backspin AND sidespin.

Do you have any clue how I could return it?

Many thanks in advance,

Panayotis

Hi Panayotis,

If the ball is long then you need to topspin it.

Firstly make sure you are getting into a good position to hit the ball.  Look for the sidespin and allow for the curve of the ball.  Then you need to make a fast brushing action on the return.

By brushing the ball really fast yourself you will eliminate the spin that they have put on the ball.  You need to generate a lot of speed with your own racket to o this and brush the ball finely.
