Overcoming the want to play defensively

Strategy

My natural instinct is to play defensively in a match. Whenever I get in the position that I'm down a few points, I naturally play defensive and am not able to come back. How can I transition to becoming a more aggressive player?

Hi Michael,

I think the best way is to select a few matches where you know the result.  So a match against a much weaker opponent.  In this match decide to play attacking shots against every long ball.  Then you can also do this in a match against a much better opponent.  Try to forget about the results of these matches and completely focus on the process.

Once you feel comfortable doing this you can start to implement the same strategy against players of similar ability to you.
