Footwork
Hello,
I have a bad habit: when the ball goes fast, I'll put my racket block on the table. I move my arm instead of moving the legs. I'll get the ball too high instead of waiting a bit and start my movement upwards. I also play topspin instead counter hit. It is a reflex and I can not change it. Can you help me?
Thank you.
Hi Christian.
To get a better pattern of reaction you need to practice this area often. Try to get someone to hit the ball to you faster than you are used to and ficus on watching the ball well. React to these balls and see if you can get the reactions better. It will just take time to get better. Watch each mistake and try to change for the next ball.
Moving your arm is a natural reaction. Focus on moving your feet and balance better first before moving your arm.
Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:
✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
