Strokes
Hi Alois
Should I lob a very high smash with topspin or hit the ball flat? Will the topspin bring the ball higher and let the ball go out of the table?
Hi Yap,
The more topspin you can put on the lob, the higher you will be able to get the lob and still get it to dip onto the table. It also kicks forward when it hits your opponent's side of the table which forces them further away from the table.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.

Hi Alois/Jeff
Sometimes I see players doing a tops in to topspin stroke even after a smash and when they are very far away from the table. How to they execute this.
We have a lesson on topspin to topspin in our Strokes and Techniques section. I think this will help you.
