Lifting the backspin of hell

Strokes

Hi guys :)

How do I lift a push that is loaded with backspin? I had my bat horizontally, had my arm move as fast as it can go, had a slightly pushing contact (I use tacky rubbers), but still, I couldn't lift it. It is a really long and ast push, and it made me lose an important match, 2:1.

Hi Romeo,

Sounds like a heavy backspin.

There is no long backspin that can't be lifted with topspin though.  Open the face of your racket more to start with.

Make sure your rubber is still grippy as well.

Brian Berry has the heaviest chop I know and you can see that Miao in this match can still lift it. Berry v Miao
