Legal serve

Dear Alois could you please tell me whether a serve is legal if the sever's hand/s is or comes over the table while serving. This I have often seen happening especially in high toss/pendulum services.

Hi Vijay,

The ball is not allowed to go over the end line during the service until it is hit. So it is more about the ball rather than the hand.

Hope this makes sense.

Doubles Serving Rules

In this video we go over the somewhat complicated rules of serving for doubles in table tennis. There are a couple of extra rules for doubles that you don't apply to singles. In doubles you always serve from the right hand box diagonally to your opponent's right hand box. Each player has 2 serves each. If you've just been receiving then it's your turn to serve next.

of course it does make sense. The point was a ticklish one and your answer has told me as to where to look for the legality of the serve. Thank you very much. Now I will be watching both me and others more closely.
