Occasionally, Koki Niwa pulls off some really insane counterhits. Here's an example at 0:28

Surely there's more to it than just anticipation and luck? How is he able to perform such a strong counterattack?

Hi Jack,

It is a lot about anticipation and seeing the ball so well.

You will notice in a lot of these shots that he is totally relaxed and almost giving up on the point when he makes these incredible shots. Β The one at 0:28 looks like a very strong counter topspin.
