Strategy
Sir,
Since I am an intermediate level player & after serving backspin/side-back spin serve the attacker has 2 options:-
01. Loop the third ball with max. top spin and then attack the 5th ball
02. Drive the third ball.
Out of above which should be practiced more and is more accurate?
regards,
Ravi
Hi Ravi,
You need to practice both because they are needed in different circumstances.
the two variations along side each other will make it more difficult for your opponent to block. If you only have one it will make it easier for your opponent to get used to your shot.
When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
