Hey Pingskills,

I was playing with my school coach when my coach did a fast long sidespin serve. I completely failed in serving or returning such a serve.  Then it struck me, why not ask the world's best coaches.

It would be very grateful of you if you could make a video explaining that.

Love and Regards,

Hi Siddhant,

Actually we already have a video on this. Returning a long sidespin serve

You can also look at this one on Fast Serve Down the Line which may help.  To add side spin, brush across the back of the ball or the side of the ball as fast as you can.

Judging the Length of a Serve

A really important skill in table tennis is to be able to judge if a serve will be short or long. If it's short you won't be able to take a full swing at the ball and hence will need to use either a push or a flick to return the ball. However, if it is coming long then you can make a topspin attack. In this video we give you some tips to help you judge the length of the serve and hopefully this makes you a better returner.
