Strokes
I want to increase the speed to my shots and get my smashes on correct place because my shots speed is a bit slow.
I also need to learn forehand spin serve.
Hi Neel,
To increase speed first you need to make sure you have good technique at a slower pace. If you have good technique then you can build and hit the ball a lot faster. Without good technique as soon as you try to hit the ball faster the ball will miss a lot of the time. One of the big things with playing faster is generating good topspin on your shots.
Take a look at our lessons on the Advanced Forehand Topspin and the Advanced Backhand Topspin.
For help with your Forehand spin serve, start with a Pendulum serve. We have a good tutorial on this in our Serving Secrets section, called the Pendulum Serve.
Question actions
Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:
✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
