Strokes
I found out about your video about twiddling. Is it also possible with a penhold grip to execute a twiddle?
Hi Bert,
Yes you can do this. There are a few players that do this at a high level. Search for some footage of Jian Fang Lay. She does this very successfully.
You take the pointer finger away from the bat and then spin it with your thumb and middle finger. Give it a try and practice it away from the table as well/
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.

Jiaqi Zheng also twiddels, though only once after a serve: she plays with short pips on the inverted but serves with inverted.
