Strokes
Hi Alois and Jeff, I found a problem when my opponent serving medium-long and heavy backspin on my forehand side. I want to attack it but I got traumatised because once I tried the ball barely clears off the edge and I hit my rubber quite hard to the table edge as I was trying to brush fast lifting the heavy underspin tearing the topsheet. I tried the forehand flick but the ball dropped even if I use my wrist and opened bat angle. I was able to perform a successful backhand sidespin flick but I have to move leaving my backhand side almost unreachable for wide fast topspin. Any tips?
Hi Nicolas,
This an be intimidating. The key is to follow the ball all the way from the server. Follow it with your bat and you will find that our bat will naturally move into the right position if the ball is short or long.
You can also do some multi ball training getting the feeder to push a lot of balls bouncing close to the end line on the second bounce.
The backhand topspin off a topspin ball is one of the hardest to learn in table tennis. Learn how once you know how to play the backhand topspin you can master this shot and play some great backhand counter topspins.
