Hi Joshua,

The best thing is to practice your footwork drills.

An easy one to start with is the Forehand forehand footwork.  Get your training partner to hit the ball one to your forehand area and then one to your backhand area.  You need to hit both of these balls with your forehand by using your sideways shuffling footwork.  Take a look at our lesson on the Footwork Basics to see the best way to move.

The idea is to be in a balanced position when you are hitting the ball.  If you use the footwork movements that we show you and then can be balanced when you get to the ball you will be able to make a more effective stroke.

A lot of mistakes in the game are made because players are not balanced when they are playing the stroke.  If you can improve your footwork you will start to really improve your game.
