Strokes
hey, when I serve and get hold of the racket I end up using a grip that I use while practising backhand counter hitting, though I use a somewhat different grip while forehand counter hitting( I also prefer loops with this grip), so you see its difficult to transit from backhand to forehand, I end up just blocking balls both ways. My question is should I work on serving and gaining my forehand grip quickly from the very first ball and thus change my backhand grip, or I should practice looping with my forehand by backhand grip only, or you can suggest me something else...
Hi Anunay,
I would focus on getting grip that you can use with both the forehand and the backhand. You don't need to alter your grip much at all to play the two strokes. This will mean a much quicker transition between the two sides.
How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
