Training
Do you have any drills that can be used to practice twiddling?
Hi Wanda,
You can do a simple drill where your partner hits the ball to both sides alternately and you can try to hit the ball with the same side of your racket on both sides. You could then switch and use the other side of the racket.
The next progression would be to get them to hit the ball to one side for say 3 or 4 balls and then switch randomly to the other side and you have to hit the ball with the same side of the racket.
Then you can get them to hit the ball anywhere on the table and you need to use the same side all the time.
The high toss serve is not being used by a lot of players and this can be your advantage. If you can learn this serve you will gain an advantage on your opponents who are not used to returning it. Watch this master class to learn how to do it and why it is so effective.

Thanks Alois... I'll try that! I've wanted to incorporate twiddling into my game, but wondered if I should wait until I get a little better or try to start learning it now. I'll give it a try.
