Digging spin vs good brushing spin

I have a bad habit of letting the ball dig into my forehands and then it pops out of the sponge spinny because of my follow through. It's safe, but I feel it's lowering my max ceiling on power / spin. Any tips on getting good brushing attacks?

Hi Frank,

Try to contact the ball slightly flatter to increase the speed. (I've updated this, see comments below).
