How to determine the kind of spin that the opponent is returning to you?

HI Sharlynne,

You can look at the way they hit the ball.  This is a good starter to tell what they are doing.  Watch especially the contact point.  This will show you the direction of the spin.  The nest thing to look at is the flight of the ball.  After some practice you will start to see a slightly different flight of the different spins.  A topspin will dip down, a backspin will hold up in the air.  A sidespin will curve in the air.

The main thing though is a lot of experience of watching and receiving different types of spins.
