Consistency, ball placement, strategy

Strategy

In matches, I find myself playing a mindless, aggressive, third-ball attacking game. I try to finish off points as quick as possible by attacking any possible balls. I think there is little ball placement and strategy involved in my game.

The reason for this is that I am not very consistent during matches; I am unable to keep up in slightly longer rallies, and fall to my opponent's consistency, good ball placements and strategy(all of which I do not utilise much).

Should I work on my ball placements, strategy and consistency? Or is my style of aggressive play acceptable?

Also, I am a beginner, having only played table tennis for 2 years and received proper coaching for 7 months; So I do not play at a high level.

Hi Johnny,

Keep working on developing consistency during your training.  Since you have only been training for 7 months this will come as you progress.

Once you develop this consistency, you will gain confidence in being able to keep the ball on the table in the rallies and therefore won't be so impatient to finish off the points.  Keep working on it Johnny, it will keep improving.
