Strokes
After watching your video on chopping I decided to practice the stroke. I was doing it after a lapse of many years. Actually used to do it in childhood. It was great fun playing the stroke with those hard rubber bats. It is still fun but what I find is playing the stroke with these inverted rubbers the chop does not always remain in the ideal position that we were told to keep ---- low, almost kissing the net, the ball tends to go high; you have spoken about using long pimples but can we use short pips also? Long pimples don't help you to attack also. One more thing I have watched great defenders like Joo and Seo Hyowon adding side spin to their forehand chops. How is it to be done?
Hi Vijay,
Firstly to get the chop lower using inverted rubber, you need to have a more vertical stroke.
To add sidespin you need to brush slightly across the line of the ball. Start with your bat a little further away from your body and bring it in towards yourself. So as a right hander start further to the right and bring it in towards you.
