Chopping Slow Heavy Topspin

Hi Alois

Your video on how to handle slow spinny topspins was really helpful, but now that I'm using LP on my BH it has presented new challenges.  I find when I am back from the table, it is relatively easy to chop balls which are hit with decent pace.  However, when someone does a high arc, slow, heavy topspin loop, the ball drops too low, I have to reach down to chop, and I almost always chop too long.  Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hi Ji-Soo,

Now we did make that initial video on countering slow spinny topspins on your request so I guess we can go to the next step.

For the heavy topspin come down more vertically on the ball when it has a lot of spin on it.  Also keep your hand relaxed to absorb the spin.

If you can when you see the ball dropping try to move in as quickly as you can to get the ball when it is a little higher.  This may not be possible if you don't react fast enough to it. If not try to bend your knees more so you are in a balanced position when you contact the ball.
