Training
I'm wondering if there's a good way for me to exercise hitting the ball in the same spot while training, or just simply getting better control of the ball. Most of the time when i play, the ball just flies anywhere on the table without me being able to control it very well, and my training partner has a hard time catching up to the ball, which results in worse training quality.
I also don't know how to manage my hit's power, sometimes when the ball goes really low, i know to put more spin, but sometimes i hit the ball too hard and it just flies over (sometimes under) the table.
Hi Timmy,
A simple way to improve accuracy is to put a small target on the table. By doing this you ficus your attention on the spot that you are aiming for. It is quite interesting how much this can help.
To mange your power, topspin is the key. The topspin on your stroke will give you a much better margin for error over the net and allow you to hit the ball faster and still get the ball to dip onto the table.
Although attacking is the most popular style at the top level in Table Tennis, it is important to be able to defend well. If you choose to play a defensive style then you should be practicing these strokes all the time. If you play an attacking stroke then you should still try and find some time for these strokes. If you can win one extra point by defending well when pressured, it could make the difference between winning and losing.
