Strategy
Dear Coach,
Interestingly, I do well against good players who plays with short back spin serve followed by a topspin or players who serves fast balls.
However, I struggle and myself losing the points against relatively weaker players who returns short with some backspin. I noticed that the ball basically does not want to come off the table whereby I can perform a nice topspin spin swing or fast loop.
Some players also managed to return my topspin serve with a chop but not too high a return for me to smash. This is very strange to me. How to get them to pop up the ball as they are returning my topspin with a chop.
What is the strategy against those players.
Regards
Rama
Hi Rama,
Try to develop your serves so that it is difficult for players to tell what type of spin you are using. It isn’t so much about the spin but what the spin looks like to your opponent. If you an get them to think three isn’t much topspin on the serve then they will hit it higher for you.
