How can you generate a lot of speed with a backspin ball without opening the bat? Thanks.
So I have to put on a lot topspin?
But what if you are looping against topspin and you generate a lot of topspin and swing forword/will you get the ball over the net?
[AND hitting it fast]
Hi Alois,
I am left-handed player like you. Recently, I adopted Seemiller style. I am interest in your comment of this style. Specifically, it is good technique to adopt (pro and con). I found that it has improved my consistency FH & BH. However, it has been hard to return short underspin on my BH by opening the angle of my racket. Thank you.
Justin
P.S. Excellent coaching videos! Thumb up
hi alois, ive found that the angle of the bat for a topspin is directly proportional to the force applied ( more force/speed, more we have to close the bat..) but when i loop the ball against a hard backspin, its quite easy for the opponent to smash the ball UNLESS it is really low near the net..and also however hard i hit the ball, though it has loads of spin, its not as fast .. i contct the ball more on the back than the top .. which do you think is better?
Hi Rajiv,
You can close the bat with the faster racket head speed. When playing the heavy backspin you can lift the ball hitting more on the back of the ball. Again if you can generate more speed with the racket and a brushing contact you can still start to contact more on the top of the ball. With the extra backspin you need extra speed.
There is no better or worse in this situation. It is just a matter of what your opponent doesn't like. Some may not cope with the more spinny slower ball and some ay find the lower ball more difficult. If you can do both you will be able to cope with more opponents.
Hi Alois,
I've found that I can't lift the backspin because the rubber doesn't have enough friction so I can grip the ball & send it over the net.
My coach said you have to carry the ball over with less friction rather than lifting the ball.
How can you do that?
THX,
Ian :]
Hello,
but what do you do against a long, fast low backspin. A lot of players around here play it and I found it very difficult to get topspin in the ball. Slower balls are no problem for me. I am not brushing it because of the speed. This is the failer but I don´t get it correct.
What do you suggest against this.
Thx.
Video in general is very good but Tinen
poor audio quality
I hope you can solve the problem
thank you very much
