Hello,

I am new to the TT Game. I need a perfect bat to kickoff my learning practice. I watched the PingSkills video and got impressed. Please suggest the best racket from PingSkills so that I can order it.

Please tell me the score in percent for the speed, spin and control

Thanks for the online coaching. It is really helpful.

Thanks

Raja

Hi Raja,

I would recommend the PingSkills Rook to start with.  This will give you good control as well as enough spin and speed to learn the strokes effectively.

Ratings are very subjective and differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Hi Raja.  I'm a TT newbie too and I purchased the ROOK about 2 months ago (and a second one just this week) after trying several cheaper pre-made, control-focused bats (Dragonfly, Donic).  The ROOK gives me the control I need to assist in learning and improving my strokes, which I have managed well in just the past 6 weeks.  It also provides really good spin - much better than the cheaper bats and this alone has helped me start beating players that I couldn't previously beat.  Speed isn't important to me and I still hit the ball quite slowly as I find the more speed I try to generate the less control I have.  However, I've let some of my colleagues try the ROOK and they are able to generate plenty of speed.  So the speed is available if and when you can use it.

The bat feels really nicely weighted and balanced too so it helps to maintain a soft grip as you don't feel the need to 'hang onto' it.

I highly recommend it for anyone starting out (like us) but wanting to get more serious.  Good luck with the choice and your TT.

Thanks Alois and Rufuss thoo for your insights on the Rook.

I have been playing TT for last one month using the ArtengoTT bat which is basic version and I learnt the rules, basic level of serves, forehand and backhand loop by watching the ping skills videos. Last three days I got more interest on pen hold grip rather than shake hand but actually the artengo basic version bat which I have been using is the shake hand grip; Means I am using the shake hand TT bat for pen hold grip which is not correct; also I my hands are paining after some time.

Now I am Planning to upgrade my bat to Ping skills Rook or Touch (Mark V Rubber). I am a beginner and I confused to select my style (shake hand or Pen hold).

Please provide your answers to the questions below, so it helps to order the right bat from pingskills.

Questions:

1. Can I use shake hand or Pen hold?.

2. Is the Rook and Touch has both the Grips (shake hand,Pen hold)?

2. I am comfortable with TT game. Shall I order Rook or Touch?

3. I am from India, Bangalore. what is the delivery time?

4. where shall I place the order?

What I can order other than TT bats?

Hi Rajasekaran,

I would wait to purchase your bat till you have made your decision about which grip to use.  The Rook and Touch have the Shakehand grip only.  Delivery to India usually takes 10 working days or longer.  You can order it through the website Store.

I am a begginer & have chosen Joola Black Attack as my new TT Bat, which says 72 power, 92 control & 72 spin. Is that the right choice?

By the way, Thanks Pingskills for everything

Hi Alois,

I have decided to purchase the Ping skills touch shake hand grip, custom made bat, which consists of (one side Mark V rubber(Black) and another side Rakza 7 rubber (Red)).

Do you recommend this combination?

I am planning to use Mark V-Black color for backhand stroke and defending, Rakza 7 red color for attack and forehand loop.

If you confirm this then I will place the order, Also please provide your recommendation, feedback about this combination.

Is the ping skill touch come with side tape?

Hey yosh, you may want more spin than that paddle but that will do as long as it has good quality rubber but may I suggest the Custom Gambler with IM7 Blade and Sevens Rubber or any other gambler paddles $20-$50 they are all good paddles to learn with. Now if you wanted to be a real champ you could go with the ping skills rook which I found to be AMAZING, I am a high spin player and when I picked up that I was in love, the spin creates is astounding. It may be slightly more spendy but you'll be happy you got it. ;)

Yes Raja the Pingskills Touch does come with side tape to ensure long lasting, top of the line performance but you may want to stick with the rook because of slower speed which is ??great to learn these new strokes Alois and Jeff provide out of their own good heart. Later on you can come back to the touch when you really got things down.?

Raja, I agree with Jack.  The Mark V and Rakza 7 rubber combo is a really quick set up for someone that hasn't been playing for very long.

Alois, what about a Touch with Lion on the backhand and Mark V on the forehand as a variation on the beginner's set up, for someone that want's a faster FH rubber?  Then it would just be a matter of upgrading the rubber in a year or so.

Thanks Alios,Jack and Rufus's fir the great insight's about the Bat and rubber. I understand your views. I will buy the Rook.

Yesterday I was tried ordering the Rook using my American express card but the site was not accepting the card. It seems only visa and master cards are acceptable. I will try with visa after 2 days.

Good for you, someday soon you will be able to upgrade to touch but the rook will be great for you to learn all the strokes.??

OK, thanks Rajasekaran.  I think the Rook is a good idea as well.
