Equipment

Hey Alois

Have you ever thought about reviewing and testing different blades, rubbers and glues  and videoing them to put on the website and YouTube.

Hi Trevor,

Unfortunately this would take another whole heap of time that we don't have.

Our philosophy is to help layers by improving their techniques and their skill levels in general.  I think there are plenty of other sites that focus on equipment.

For us the equipment is not any near as important as your own ability.  I often say, Waldner would beat me with a plank of wood.

If it is the Bruce Lee video, it is all done with a computerised image of the ball... but if Waldner was doing it...

Bit offtopic. (soory for that) But reading this reminds me of a tournament we have every year.

Were you get to play with everything except a paddle! Good fun to play with a bag of coockies, old shoe's, snow-spade, computer motherboard, remote control or trash bin etc. Good times!   :D

Is this tournament official or not?

No it's not official. It's a little tournament we have with our own clubmembers. I wrote about it to inform people about this and maybe it's something you or other people could do at your own club. It's just amusing, fun and there is no telling who will be in the finals. Could be a good table tennis player but it also could well be a far less skilled player.

So true. There are truly enough sites and forums where one can read reviews and tests of equipment, but in the end its about the players skills.

Alois... the Waldner comment made me laugh, but then I thought that he'd beat many people with the same plank of wood.  You think he'd use kiso hinoki?  I'd like to see him play with that actually... maybe a pingskills exclusive?

Bertus, I would so play in that tournament...  I would love to see what a ps3 controller would do!

I think A PS3 controller would be very difficult but if you manage to play with it you have a big advantage over someone with a plank of wood!

Cause after each game you swap material and playing with something straight and even like a plank is easy for you to play with but your opponent will struggle with the shapes of a controller.

Cheers!

It would be funny to see what a toothbrush would do In the tournament :-)
