Hi Alois and Jeff!

Some days ago I played a tournament, I didnt win it obiously I dont have national level yet, but one point of my games was very weird for me, was a lob with backspin, It was 8-10m of height, i went to the side of the table, and then... i saw i couldn't hit it, i have a video of some points of the game, could you see it and give me your opinion and suggestions? about that point and about things i could get better.

That's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2VIKsfWvNM&feature=plcp

It's a bit funny the point XD

Hi Francisco,

That is a funny situation!  I think if you had you time agin you should go around the other side of the table and you would be able to reach it.  I think you play well with good technique.  Good work.

I think the area that you could work on is your serving.  On your pendulum serve, you are generating spin but you could get more.  Try to keep your right leg still through the serve and focus on getting your bat to come through faster.

You often play your backhand from outside the line of your body.  See if you can move across the table more to the backhand side to get behind the ball.  This will make your backhand more effective.

But, all the basics are really good.  Just keep playing and enjoying the game.

Thanks very much for the suggestions, actually im working on footwork and im doing a lot of service practice too, I  think i have good footwork for the 3th ball attack, but my problem is with the next balls, i dont get in the position with good balance to do good topspins, the poor thing is my ipong robot doesnt have rotation to practice footwork, i only can do forehand-backhand footwork (pivoting).

Thanks for all!

Perhaps you are trying to get around on our forehand too much.. Try staying more central and using your backhand.  As you get better with the backhand and get more confidence in it you will feel more comfortable staying central to table.

For training you may need to find a training partner to practice more often and give up one of your robot sessions.
