Hi Coach,

I'm new to this game and playing only at office campus from like 3-4 months, saw your videos on TT, and they helped me, just wondering if you guide me to purchase my first BAT.

Budget can be compromised if bat going to be a great for long time.

Hi Dalwinder,

It's important not to get something too fast to start with so you can develop your strokes fully with the correct action. It's also important to get a bat with some decent rubber so you can generate spin. Table Tennis is a game of spin so it's important to learn about it and use it in your strokes from the beginning.

Watch this video on choosing a table tennis bat for some more information. We recommend the PingSkills Rook as the ideal first bat. There are of course lots of good options out there.

Good luck with your search. It's always exciting to get a new table tennis bat!

Dalwinder, I can recommend the PS Rook.  I use one at the office and one at home/club. One of the really good things about it, apart from the weight, balance, control, spin factors is that choosing the Rook avoids all the angst and second guessing you do when faced with so many options.  Trying to decide which will be the best bat for you from the 20 or so you might see in a sports store or the 100s on-line can be overwhelming.  The Rook does everything you'll need as a developing player and does it well.

I used the one at the office for about 40+ hours of play time and the one at home for about 60+ hours and they are still really good.  I do need to clean the rubber more often now to maintain the grip but once it is clean and dry, it's as good as new (almost).
