Playing with inferior equipment

Equipment

Hi Alois,

I found a friend at work who is serious about improving at table tennis and we have been training together.  At work in our break rooms there are tables to play on at work but the problem is the equipment is bad.  The paddles have no grip, a couple are completely devoid of rubber.  I find this makes it hard to win games because it is hard to execute our strokes correctly.  Also sometimes I feel like perhaps it isn't always  a good idea to play at work because when I go train after work I have to get used to playing with my own bat again.  Any ideas?  Did technique change playing with bad equipment or even when playing with hardbat?

Hi Sergio,

I would think about taking your own bat to practice with at work.  Playing with a hard bat will mean a change to your strokes that will effect your development.
