Hello Sir,

Tell me how to execute Ovtcharov heavy serve?

Hi Nabeel,

This is an awkward serve.  It is basically a backhand serve with a lot of action behind it.  He gets very side on to the table so that he can get a lot of swing through with his body, arm and wrist.  He also starts very low.  If you look at it though it is Backhand sidespin serve with the same basics as we show in our Serving Secrets Revealed DVD with a lot more action.

Yes you can.  It would be just as easy.  In fact his starting position would be a little easier with the penhold grip.

Hi,

I've had trouble viewing this video too. It took several seconds before appearing and then just stopped about 1/2 way through. I tried to replay from the start of the video, and from where it got stuck, but no-go.

Re that serve, I find it frustrating to watch. He wastes so much time with the preparation, and his preparation seems dedicated 95% to gamesmanship rather than playing fair TT. I think his pose gives deception just before striking the ball, but the rest of the action isn't helping him with disguise, as far as I can tell. If I were the receiver, I would be getting more tense while preparing to receive the serve 10 seconds after the false motions began. I loved watching Ma Lin loop-kill Ovt's serves. It demonstrated Ma Lin's offensive ability and also patience. Overall, I'm not impressed by the German's serves. If you think that the German needs all that time to serve, not so, as he can speed up the motion at times, although he doesn't usually do this.

The video also stops for me. Alois is saying: "Even though this serve works fantastically well for Ovtcharov, its not an easy serve to".

And at that point the video and audio hangs.

I am enjoying watching/reading these video answers - only problem is a fast increasing list of things to practise!
