face angle

Would you say that the face angle when "lifting" (topspin against underspin) is more vertical than a counter?

Would this be even more of a factor in getting the ball over the net than the more vertical path of the racket.  I didn't hear mention of the face angle in the videos (but haven't gotten too deep into them yet).

I just discorverd your site and am really enjoying it.

I had about 30 hours of great instruction with Marty Prager in Hollywood Fl several years ago.  Your lessons are a GREAT review after having to take off a couple of years due to shoulder surgery.

Thanks for putting this site together.  I'm a USPTA tennis teaching pro and appreciate all the work you've put into this.

Hi Bob,

You are right with the face angle.  The more topspin the more vertical your bat needs to be.  I think the face angel and the path are linked closely.  I often think that with the topspin strokes, the leading edge cuts the air and the rest of the bat goes through that gap.

Thanks for your observation.
