Hi Alois

My coach was telling me that when my opponent serves there is a part on the ball where it has no spin (somewhere on the bottom or top) that if you touch the ball with your bat you would be able to return it easily.  I was wondering is this true and why haven't the top players in the world master this technique. My last question is how would you beat someone who is better than you would you play with more spin, speed or power and one more question what do left handed players hate the most?

Thanks

From Enoch

Hi Enoch,

Firstly think of the Earth rotating.  At the North and South Poles the earth is moving slower.  That is the areas of the ball that they are talking about hitting.  The top players do in their own way hit this area of the ball.

To beat a player that is better than you you need to find an area of their game that you can exploit.  All players have a weaker area that will give you the best opportunity to win points.
