Hi pingskills,

What is the serving elbow position? Should I lock my elbow in the same position throughout the serve? Because I have a habit to lift my arm up as on toss the ball up.

And do you have any comments on what happened to Zhang jike? Why is he playing so badly recently? And will he be kicked out of the China team and not participate in the 2016 Rio Olympics?

Hi Eugene,

It depends on the serve you are talking about.  For the Pendulum you don’t need to move your elbow much at all during the service motion.

I don’t know why Zhang Jike has dropped.  He is getting older and has achieved a lot.  Perhaps his motivation isn’t as high any longer.

What about the backspin serve, do I need to have the elbow higher or lower.

But ma long's age Is almost the same as Zhang. But ma long is better than him. Just last year Zhang beat ma and kick and broke the barriers and got fined. But this year he's playing very badly. I think since since the suzhou wttc, he's already very bad and just recently lost to ranked 50 jang woojin twice in the Asian table tennis championships

Probably lack of motivation.

Earlier this year, in the WTTC semi-final against Fang Bo, they were talking a lot about Zhang's shoulder injury bothering him, but no details . . .  Maybe this is still bothering him, either physically or psychologically?

The injury of The shoulder is xu xin, not Zhang.
