There is a lot more to a successful lob than simply getting the ball back on the table. Watch this lesson to learn how to improve your chances of winning the point when forced back from the table.
Hi Alois,
Does it have to be a topspin when lobbing or I can switch with the other spin?
Hi Archel,
Topspin is best because it will force your opponent away from the table and also you will be able to hit the ball faster.
I looked at a video that Joo Se Hyuk used sidespin on the ball. Does it as effective as the topspin?
Hi Archel,
The sidespin can be good because it makes the ball a little harder to track but with topspin you can get the smasher to move further away from the table. So then they need to make the smash from further away which will give you more time to track it and return it.
hi coach,
i just wanted to ask, what if the attacker decides to stop smashing and he puts a slow gentle stroke ? as we are far away from the table lobbing, we will for sure not be able to reach it on time and will lose a point..so do you have any remedy to this clever playing of attacker cause ive been caught more than a 100 times because of the same thing.. please let me know
CHEERS!!

Hi Parakram,
Make sure you are watching the ball. If you are watching carefully you will start to pick up some things that the smasher will do. He will change his backswing slightly. This will give you the clue to move in closer to the table.
Ohh,, so that's it. Thanks coach ^_^
