The forehand block is used against an attacking topspin. It is a defensive stroke and so is a shorter version of the forehand counterhit. As your opponents shot will be fast, you won't need to make the pace yourself. You will need to vary the angle of your racket depending on the amount of topspin on the ball.

  2. Start with your bat up high
  3. The block is a shorter version of the counterhit
  4. Close your bat angle against heavy topspin
  5. Open your bat angle against light topspin
  6. Remain balanced and stable
