Hi, I am playing agianst a superior opponent and he has a deadly flick.  I can't even do this shot yet.  How can I defend against it as I am beaten everytime he does it.

Hi Andrew,

The main thing is prevention here.  You need to be able to stop him from flicking effectively.

To do this you need to keep the ball low to the net.  The second thing is to not place the ball too close to the net.  It need to be far enough away from the net to stop him flicking easily but short enough so that he can't topspin it.

If you can then start to develop a littl more backspin on th epush it would also help.

Hi,

I also have question about how efficently attack against flip.
Which stroke should I do most of the time: loop, loop kill or counterdrive? Which is less and which is most risky?

Now I play in 4 league but sometimes I play in training with 1 and 3 league players. I see that players with 1st league use flick very often. I would use this training time most efficient and do less errors with atack flip because I don't play with them often.

Hi Dariusz, It is probably easiest to use a loop stroke, because the effect of the flick is that it makes the ball feel heavy and you need to lift it. The counterhit or fast loop are a little more risky. You need good touch to be able to counterhit it back.
