Comparing Rubbers

Hi pingskills

Could you please give your opinion of which rubber is the fastest, spinniest and most controlled respectively.

Mark V, Mark V XS and Tenergy 05

Another question: Am I correct in saying the following statements about combinations.

1) Fast rubber+Fast blade=Very high speed, high spin, not great control.

2) Fast rubber+slow/medium speed blade=High speed, Very high spin and good control.

3) Slow rubber+fast blade=medium speed, not great spin,good control

4)Slow rubber+slow/medium blade= not good speed, not good spin and very good control

Note: when I say fast rubber I mean high speed and spin but average control

Firstly, Tenergy is the fastest of the 3 rubbers. It is a lot faster than the other two. The next would be Mark V XS slightly ahead of Mark V.

Yes, fast rubber and fast blade will be a very fast bat with little control. You may not get as much spin because the ball is coming out too fast.

Fast rubber with slow blade will give you more spin and will still be quite fast. This is the combination most of the better players go for.

Slow rubber with a fast blade will give you medium speed, little spin and reasonable control.

Slow rubber with slow blade will give excellent control with little spin and speed.

In all of these you also need to consider the spin of the rubber of course.

Remember though to always look at getting something that feels reasonably comfortable for you and then train like crazy.
