When you make an edge ball, the opponent normally has no chance.

So, is it possible, by training, to make your serves so accurate, that almost every serve becomes an edge ball?

If so this would be a "sure win" strategy! :D

Hi Athos,

I have a friend who sometimes tries this strategy but it does not work too well. To try and hit the edge accurately, he does not try and put spin on the ball because this would make placing the ball so accurately even more difficult. Sometimes he hits the edge and wins the point, but sometimes he misses the table all together and loses the point. Any faults immediately negate any edges. And if the ball does land on the table but does not hit the edge it is usually quite a weak serve and puts him behind straight away.

So although this sounds like a great idea, I'm yet to see anyone be able to execute ti with any advantage.

You are much better off concentrating on improving your serve by working on your spin, speed and placement.

Does anyone else know of someone who has tried this tactic?
