You Asked

I have recently taken up table tennis and don't know many others who play and am yet to find a training partner. Are there any drills I can do on my own to help me improve?

Take a look at our lesson on practicing alone. This has quite a few suggestions on how you can improve on your own.

In addition you can perform some shadow play. This is where you emulate your strokes without a table tennis ball. You imagine as if you were really playing and practice the stroke over and over. This is a really effective way of practicing when you don't have a partner. We have shadow play on our list of videos to make.

Let me know if you've tried some of these suggestions and if you think they have helped you out.
