You Asked

Hello,

I mastered the forehand sidespin hook loop already but, the ball dosen't curve while in the air.

And like the video on the sidespin forehand topspin, how do we do the backhand sidespin loop??? Can you show me how to execute the backhand sidespin "hook" loop?

Thanks.

Hi Yiejian,

It is great to hear you are mastering these strokes. To get the ball to curve in the air you need to ensure that your loops have sidespin on them. The sidespin is generated by brushing the ball on the side. If you get enough sidespin, then the ball will curve. You see this for yourself by getting away from the table and practice hitting the ball with sidespin. Once you get it right you will see the ball curve.

To hit the backhand sidespin loop, you need to modify your normal backhand topspin by turning the racket down so that you can make contact with the ball on the side. This will generate the sidespin and cause the ball to curve.

Keep up the good work!
