You Asked

One of the things that has always bothered me is knowing how to receive a side topspin server to the backhand. I have handled this 50% of the time on average using a backhand loop from the side of the table. The other 50% of the time I miss. Are there other options? Also it would be nice to see a vid clip on options such as you presented for handling slow spinny topspin returns. Do you have a lesson that covers server returns? Thanks Keep up the good work Devon

Hi Devon,

The option that you have mentioned is good if you can make the topspin.  The other option is to take the ball early and  make a Backhand Flick return or a Backhand Sidespin Flick return.  Try the flick first.  The sidespin backhand flick is a very advanced technique.

Take a look at the lessons on both and see what you can do.
