Hi Coach,

I was wondering if you could help me with my short pimples.

I use them on my forehand, and seem very reliant on them. Usually serving then attacking straight away with them.

I watched players like Li Jia Wei, who tends to use her backhand much more than her forehand.

Should i try and use my backhand more?

Also, is there any tips on how to attack the ball with short pips?

Sometimes when the ball comes up with backspin, i attack with a flat hit  and sometimes it goes out of the table or down the net.

Hi Alex,

One of the keys to playing with Short Pimples is to hit the ball at the top of the bounce.  This is critical because you don't have as much margin for error because you are not generating as much topspin on the ball.

It requires more precise training than if you are using inverted rubber.  You can generate some topspin so if you are unsure of the spin n the ball, use a little lifting action with your forehand stroke to give you a little more margin.

Li Jia Wei does use her backhand more but she is also very precise with her forehand attack.
