You Asked

Hi Coach,

when you loop an off the table underspin ball, the moment when the ball contact the blade, where should your eyes be looking at??
At the target ?? At your blade witnessing the contact??

I have discussed with a few club members and I have mixed answers.

From a good fundamental point of views, which way is the right way?

Thanks,
Cheok

Hi Cheok,

Firstly, you should always, always, always watch the ball.  That is the most important thing.  So yo uneed to be watching the contact as closely as you can because that is where the ball is.  If you get a chance to see some slo motion replays of Roger Federer playing you will see that he is always looking at the point of contact of the racquet and the ball.  That is one of the reasons that he looks like he can't miss the ball.

It is difficult to watch the contact but do your best always to track the ball wherever it is.
