First I have to thank you for such a great resource, and for all the tips and wisdom that you kindly share with us! Thanks.
My question deals with control. What does control mean? (And I am want you to read into that question a bit.) A rubber is sold with a control number, is that a mathematical result of the spin and speed? And how do you know how much control you need? For example if 90% of my shots land during conservative play, or 65% land on really aggressive play is that how I determine my control level? Is there a simple test to find this out? When I bought my blade it also has a control number, is the rubber control number more important, or a combo of the two, blade and rubber? I did watch the lesson on the most important skill (soft and straight) - is that my answer? Thanks for all the help! - Ben

I am not sure how the manufacturers determne their numbers. I don't necassarily use them as a rule. I think it is more pertinient to compare within a manufacturers range as to their ratings rather than between manufacturers.
The problem is that there are jst too many options. I think if you can find something that is relatively close to what you want and then train hard with it.
I think the two ratings of the blade and the rubber need to be taken together. The combination of the two determine how the bat will play.
