Hi David,
The key is to use a forehand topspin. Get the action right and will have no problems later with it.
You will be able to topspin the ball fast or slow and spinny depending on what they don't like. Have a look at the Lesson on the Forehand topspin against backspin.

Hi Alois,
Consistency is my problem here. I have noticed that about 50% of the time I try to return chop with a topspin the ball ends up in the net ( especialy when my opponent would try to put as much backspin on the ball as he can). I have found that using a stroke that in my language is called cut (another name is "chop of the chop") whould have much more chances to be successful. I would move my racket as flat as I can so it looks like I try to scrape the ball from the table. I think the disadvantage is that it creates more attacking opportunities for opponents but at least I can return the ball more often then with topspin. But I _really_ would like to use more topspin since it's more offensive stroke.
So the questions are:
1. When to use cut and when to use topspin? 2. How should I be adjusting the topspin to be more successful? Is it the angle of the swing or the speed or anything else?
