Losing embarrassing point

Strokes

hi champion brother,

I am facing this very weird problem. Sometime in a match, i tend to use my stroke on empty air, after realizing that, the ball zoom past me a fraction of a second later. My friends commented that i am too fast.

This super reaction speed of mine is making me miss the ball totally. If I am lucky, I  will get a poor contact and pray hard the spin i generated with this light contact and bring the ball over the net.

Another problem i had is facing high and slow " super spinny" ball. i will just stun there and don't know how to react when it finally land and hit the table corner. so you can expect me setting up the game well,  and at the most crucial moment of ending the point, lose the point via stun at the moment/ hitting the empty air (missing the ball totally)/ grazing the ball with light contact usually landing the ball in the net. it totally embarrassing.

please advice me,

thanks

Hi Mark,

With regards to swinging too early on the ball one thing that will help is watching the ball carefully.  If you start to really track the ball in and out you will start to time your swings a little better.  YOu will also start to move in a better time so that you don't get to the ball too early.

Luckily we have a lesson on how to deal with the slow spinny ball.  Take a look at  the lesson titled Counter a Slow Spinny Topspin.  This will give you some good ideas on what to do in this situation.

Good luck with your game.
