Footwork Basics - Table Tennis Video Lesson

Footwork Basics

Footwork is critical in Table Tennis. If you have the best forehand but your opponent always places it away from you, you will not be able to utilise your main weapon unless you have good footwork and good balance. 95% of movement in Table Tennis is sideways. To move sideways you need to use a shuffle step. The key to this kind of footwok is your balance and to help you stay balanced you need to have your feet wide apart, bend your knees and get down low.

Tips On Table Tennis Footwork

  1. Bend your knees and get down low
  2. Have your feet wide apart
  3. Use a shuffle step
  4. Balance is the key to good footwork
