Table Tennis Game

Has anyone tried the game of Table Tennis video game that is featured on the ITTF website or the Table Tennis Wii Game?

If you have and had any luck please give us some tips here at PingSkills.

After giving the game on the ITTF site a try I can honestly say that I need some work… In fact I am still searching for my first point. To take my advice, it may just need some ‘perfect practice’.

It may also have something to do with the fact that I come from the dinosaur age but then I gave a couple of kids a try and they had about the same degree of success as I did.

So any tips for this dinosaur?

After also trying the Wii game of Table Tennis I realise that I should probably stick to the real thing. After spending much effort to master my strokes and looking for perfect technique with my strokes on the Wii Game, moving the controller to the exact specifications of a deadly forehand topspin, I came across a couple of youngsters that with the flick of a finger were sending the ball hurtling past me at breakneck speeds.

So where to from here with my Table Tennis video game career? Probably back to the real game is my best bet…

I did buy the Table Tennis game for Wii, and had fun with it for a few days (particularly enjoyed beating the fictional player probably modelled on Ma Lin) but I ended up returning it. I figured getting used to playing table tennis on a Wii machine probably would muck up my real life technique. Thanks for the link to that online game. I had a quick go with it and found myself down 0-4…I’ll see if I can win a point!

I tried the game from your blog and to win points, take big backswings and move your mouse foreward quickly to hit hard topspin shots. Note: I haven’t won yet, but i did get to 13-15 against matthew Syed, and i’ve only been playing about 5 minutes. keep at it and you’ll get it, ps. your website is great

I played Syed and won 11-6 11-5. Don’t know if he is easier than Persson or if I just got used to the game. I find you can hit a lot of winners off Matthew’s short serve by attacking the corners. Of course, I’ve always had a knack for video games so don’t know if this tip will help dinosaurs! However, I’d prefer to play real table tennis half as well as Alois than to be a world champion of video table tennis!

Syed is much easier, so play him first. I have beaten both of them in straight sets because i have discovered both of them only hit straight from their contact position, so that helps. I would also rather play real table tennis, but the game is a lot of fun when you get used to it. Have fun.

You blokes are getting old - my son Ben gives the ITTF site a whipping & I won’t play Wii sports resort table tennis anymore cos it doesn’t know when I’m hitting cross court…. (oh and I lose to the kid!!)
