Korean brand Xiom is a relative newcomer to the table tennis equipment market. Their strategy of focusing on premium gear has paid off and in the space of a few short years, they have decimated Butterfly’s traditional strong hold on the Korean market. Xiom are now making a serious impact on the world table tennis market.
Xiom Omega III is my pick of the Xiom pack. It is by far the fastest Tensor rubber on the market and this is as close as you will currently get to the speed glued rubbers of the pre-ban days. Omega III is extremely springy and I was surprised just how much of a catapult effect they have been able to build into this rubber.
If you are looking for a rocket rubber then look no further. You can generate loads of speed and spin on your topspins. The speed means that Omega III holds up well if you decide to block – the rubber does most of the work for you. You will need good control to get the most out of this rubber.
Xiom Omega III comes in two versions – Asian and European. Asian has harder sponge and European has softer sponge. I prefer the Asian version as I think that the German Tensor rubbers are soft enough anyway.
I would be cautious using Omega III on a very fast blade as you might find it hard to control. Using Omega III on a medium speed blade would give more control and mean you could put more effort into your topspins without worrying about the ball flying off the end of the table.
Highly recommended for the looping enthusiast who isn’t afraid to pay a few bucks to blow his pals off the table.
