Chinese domination complete
The last non Chinese player has just been eliminated form the singles event at the World Individual Championships. The line up looks something like this in the semi finals. China vs China, China vs China and in the Womens its China vs China and China vs China.
The Chinese have once again proved that they are way ahead of the rest. The last hurdle was the struggle of Ma Lin against Joo Se Hyuk. Ma Lin who is never really comfortable against a defender and has lost previously to Joo in World singles titles, overcame a shaky middle period to take the match 4 – 2.
In the all Chinese quarter final match up of Wang Liqin and Chen Qi, it was the mentally stronger Wang that took the match. Chen found himself up 3 – 2 in games and had an early lead in the 6th game when he saw the finish line and tightened up just enough for Wang to roll over the top of him.
So the Womens singles semi finals are Zhang Yining playing Liu Shiwen, and Li Xioaxia playing Guo Yue.
In the Mens semi finals it’s Wang Hao playing Ma Long and Wang Liqin playing Ma Lin.
