Rules – Time Between Games
Another thing you may see at the upcoming World Championships is players taking a break between games.
During a match you are allowed time between games to receive advice form your coach or to just recover and prepare for the next game. The rule states specifically that you are allowed up to 1 minute between games.
The umpire should at the end of the game set his stop watch to allow the players one minute only. You will often see players receiving advice from their coaches and being told to return to the table when the minute has elapsed. If both players are ready to play on before the minute is up, the match can resume.
The ITTF rule states “any player is entitled to
3.04.04.01.01 an interval of up to 1 minute between successive games of an individual match
